Abstract :
ABSTRAK Belajar membaca merupakan salah satu keterampilan utama yang perlu dimiliki oleh anak-anak. Aktivitas membaca penting diterapkan pada anak sejak usia dini, dimana dengan membaca anak dapat memperoleh pengetahuan yang luas. Oleh karena itu, Ibu dapat mengajak anak untuk melakukan aktivitas membaca berpasangan guna menumbuhkan gemar membaca anak usia dini. Menumbuhkan gemar membaca pada anak sejak dini tepat dilakukan oleh Ibu yang nantinya akan berpengaruh pada kesuksesan terkait pendidikan anak (kesuksesan akademisnya). Ibu diharapkan memiliki perubahan kebiasaan ketika melakukan aktivitas membaca bersama anak usia dini guna menumbuhkan gemar membaca. Ibu dalam menumbuhkan gemar membaca anak usia prasekolah memerlukan tugas ekstra untuk berbagai aktivitas membaca. Hal tersebut dikarenakan anak usia ini memerlukan bimbingan lebih dibanding anak-anak yang sudah memasuki sekolah dasar. Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk mengetahui gambaran aktivitas Paired Reading antara Ibu dan Anak dalam menumbuhkan gemar membaca anak usia dini. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kuantitatif deskriptif, dengan lokasi penelitian di wilayah Surabaya Timur. Metode pengambilan sampel menggunakan purposive sampling dengan jumlah responden sebanyak 100. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa Ibu di Surabaya telah melakukan berbagai upaya melalui metode Paired Reading untuk meningkatkan kefasihan dan pemahaman membaca anak guna menumbuhkan gemar membaca anak, dengan prosentase 96% Ibu telah menemani anak dalam melakukan aktivitas membaca. Sedangkan untuk perilaku gemar membaca anak dapat dilihat dari berapa banyak Ibu menyediakan bahan bacaan dan juga berapa banyak buku yang telah dibaca oleh anak selama 1 bulan. Kebiasaan Ibu saat di rumah dan pemberian motivasi oleh Ibu untuk anak dapat memengaruhi anak untuk memiliki ketertarikan terhadap kegiatan membaca. Kata kunci: Aktivitas Paired Reading , menumbuhkan gemar membaca anak, membaca bersama ABSTRACT Learning to read is one of the main skills that children need to have. Reading activities are important to apply to children from an early age, in which by reading children can obtain extensive knowledge. Therefore, mothers can invite children to do reading activities in pairs to foster a love in reading at an early age. Fostering a love in reading to children from an early age is right to be done by mothers who will later have an effect on success related to children's education (academic success). Mothers are expected to have a change in habits when doing reading activities with early childhood in order to foster a love of reading. Fostering a love in reading to preschoolers, Mothers require extra work for various reading activities. That is because preschoolers need more guidance than children who have entered primary school. This research was conducted to determine the description of Paired Reading activities between mother and child in fostering a love in reading to early childhood. This research uses descriptive quantitative method, located in the area of East Surabaya. The sampling method uses purposive sampling with a number of respondents as many as 100. The results of the study show that mothers in Surabaya have made various efforts through the Paired Reading method to improve their children's fluency and reading comprehension to foster children's loving in reading, with a percentage of 96% Mothers accompanying children in 2 doing reading activity. As for the behavior of children’s love in reading can be seen from how much the mother provides reading material and also how many books have been read by children for 1 month. Mother's habits at home and giving motivate to children can influence children to have an interest in reading.
