Abstract :

Abstrak Objek kajian penelitian ini adalah cerita rakyat Jambi, Malin Tembesu (MT). Maksud penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui struktur cerita MT. Penelitian ini menggunakan teori struktur naratif Vladimir Propp dengan menggunakan metode struktural. Analisis yang dilakukan menitikberatkan pada fungsi pelaku. Menurut Propp, suatu fungsi adalah tindakan seorang tokoh yang dibatasi dari segi maknanya. Dari teori Propp ini, diketahui adanya unsur yang tetap dan unsur yang berubah. Unsur yang tetap adalah perbuatan atau tindakan, sedangkan unsur yang berubah adalah adalah pelaku atau penderita. Unsur yang tetap tersebut merupakan unsur yang penting dalam teori Propp. Terdapat empat hal yang penting dalam teori ini. Pertama, fungsi pelaku merupakan unsur-unsur yang tetap, konstan dalam cerita, tanpa menghiraukan bagaimana dan oleh siapa fungsi-fungsi tersebut dipenuhi. Kedua jumlah fungsi dalam cerita adalah tetap (31 fungsi). Ketiga, urutan fungsi pelaku adalah sama. Keempat, cerita dongeng dipandang dari sudut struktur adalah satu tipe. Melalui analisis fungsi pelaku pada cerita MT dapat diketahui  jumlah fungsi pelaku, urutan fungsi pelaku dan kerangka urutan fungsi pelaku, penyebaran fungsi-fungsi diantara pelaku, dan skema pergerakan cerita. Kata kunci: cerita rakyat, Malin Tembesu, naratologi, Propp Abstract The object of this research is Jambi folklore, Malin Tembesu (MT). This study aims to determine the structure of the MT story. This study uses the theory of Vladimir Propp's narrative structure using structural method. The analysis focuses on the functions performed by the characters. According to Propp, a function is an action done by a character which is limited in terms of its meaning. In Propp 's theory, it is known that there is a fixed element and a changing element. The fixed element is the act, while the changing element is the character or the object. The fixed element is an important element in the theory of Propp. There are four things that are important in this theory. First, the character function is a fixed element, constant in the story, regardless of how and by whom those functions are fulfilled. Secondly, the number of functions in the story is fixed (31 functions). Third , the order of the function stays the same. Fourth, folklore has only one type, viewed from its structure. Through the analysis of the actors in MT story, some factors are revealed, which are the number of actor function , the order of the function and the framework of actor function sequence, the distribution of functions among actors, and the movement of the story plot.   Keywords: folklore, Malin Tembesu, Narratology, Propp
