Abstract :
The purpose of this study was to isolate and identify coagulase-positive Staphylococcus from dog skin andprove the existence of coagulase-positive Staphylococcus that do not utilize mannitol which were suspected asStaphylococcus intermedius. Previous studies have shown that Staphylococcus intermedius which was a CPS can beisolated from dogs with pyoderma. This research was an exploratory study using non-probability purposive samplingtypes. Samples taken from 5 dogs with the criteria have a festering wound on the skin. Swab samples of pus werecultured in MSA and observed the colony that grew which ferment mannitol and that did not ferment mannitol.Furthermore, coagulase test was done to identify CPS. Four samples of bacteria that ferment mannitol, two samplesshowed excellent results of coagulation and suspected as Staphylococcus aureus. Five samples of bacteria that did notferment mannitol, one sample showed perfect results of coagulation and 1 sample given almost perfect results, whichwere suspected as Staphylococcus intermedius.
