Abstract :
The aim of this research to determined susceptibility of Escherichia coli was isolated from Etawagoat milk. Eighteen Etawa goat milk samples were used in this research and screened for mastitis usingCalifornia Mastitis Test (CMT). For the isolation and identification of Escherichia coli, the milk samples were cultured on Eosin Methylen Blue Agar (EMBA), then it was followed with characterisation based on the haemolysis characteristics on Blood Agar Plate, Gram staining, and biochemically tested consistof Triple Sugar Iron Agar (TSIA), Urea Agar, Sulphide Indol Motility (SIM), Methyl-Red (MR), Voges Proskauer (VP), Simon Cytrate Agar, glucose, lactose, sucrose, mannitol, and maltose. The susceptibility Escherichia coli to antibiotics was conducted by diffusion method on Mueller-Hinton Agar. The antibiotics disc for this test were Chloramphenicol, Ciprofloxacin, Penicillin, Streptomycin, and Trimethoprim. The results showed that Escherichia coli could be isolated from two milk samples which were sensitive to Trimethoprim, Chloramphenicol, Ciprofloxacin, Streptomycin, and resistance to Penicillin.
