Abstract :

Mastitis is known as a mammary gland inflammation caused by pathogenic microorganisms. These microorganisms (S.aureus and E.coli) enter the mammary gland, and will grow with produce a toxin in it. Mastitis cause an economically lost such as the degradation of milk production and quality, and early culling decision. A routine examination and teat dipping are the best choice of controlling this condition. Sambiloto leaf extract has an antibacterial substance against S.aureus and E.coli). This research aimed to study a Sambiloto leaf extract that has an active substance in the dipping solution which has an antibacterial effect against S.aureus and E.coli. Methode used in this research was a field observation using survey in order to get a mastitis cases. This methode followed by a laboratory test for S.aureus and E.coli identification and effectiveness of this leaf extract. The result revealed that Sambiloto leaf extract is an effective substance of dipping solution on a Dairy Cattle Mastitis Control Programme that caused by S.aureus and E.coli. Population of S.aureus was decline by 68,03%, while E.coli was 54,67%. This decline was caused by the active agent of Sambiloto leaf extract.
