Abstract :

Mastitis is an inflammation of the udder and is common in dairy herds which causing important economic losses. It cannot be eradicated but can be reduced to low levels by good management of dairy cows. The major breakthrough in controlling Staphylococcus aureus came with the realization that it was primarily transmitted from cow to cow during the milking process. Therefore, the early detection for understanding the causative agent like Staphylococcus aureus is needed. The experiment to be done to show sensitivity of coagulase slide test on Staphylococcus aureus as a causative agent of bovine mastitis. The first step of test was to prepare pure culture of Staphylococcus aureus. Milk samples were collected from subclinical mastitic cases at the morning milking time. Preparation of pure culture were confirmed by MS agar, hemolytic activity, catalase and coagulase test. The result showed that sensitivity of coagulase slide test for detection of Staphylococcus aureus was 91,11%.
