Abstract :

The physical characteristics and the release of dietylamonium diclofenac suppositories have been studied. The suppositories were made with 3 different bases: oleum cocoa +10% cera, Suppocire A and a mixture of PEG 400 and PEG 4000. The physical characteristic determination of the suppositories included weight variation, melting point, liquifaction time and mechanical strength. The results were compared with the standard requirements. While the release of the active ingredients were observed by determining the kinetics and amount of diethylamonium diclofenac that could diffuse from the bases in 90 minutes.The results showed that oleum cocoa + 10 % cera bases is less suitable as dietylamonium diclofenac suppositories bases, suppocire A bases is suitable as dietylamonium diclofenac suppositories bases specially for local effect. PEG bases is suitable as dietylamonium diclofenac suppositories bases especially for systemic effect. Displacement factor of dietylamonium diclofenac in oleum cocoa + 10 % cera is 1.84, in suppocire A bases is 0.09 and in PEG bases is 2.41
