Abstract :

The purpose of the study was to know about characteristic of diclofenac sodium in niosome system form which is inside of carbomer 940 gel base and determining diclofenac sodium release rate (flux) of niosome system  from carbomer 940 gel base. Niosome system which used acquired by Reverse Phase Evaporation method, consist of diclofenac sodium-span 20-cholesterol with molar ratio 1 : 4.5 : 4.5. The evaluation included organoleptics test (odor, color and consistency), pH, and release test. Results of organoleptics test were it had specific odor, the colour was yellowish white, and the consistency was thicker gel than control. The result of diclofenac sodium release is flux. Flux and pH was analyzed by statistic programmed of SPSS 16.0 using independent sample t-Test. Data analyze showed that first form has average pH  7.11±0.07 and second form was 6.27 ± 0.07. T test statistic analyze indicates that there are a significant difference between the two form’s average pH. First formulation has average flux 77.759 ± 7.34, and second formulation has 64.437±3.27. After it analyzed by statistic method, showed that there was a significant difference between two formulation’s flux.
