Abstract :

ABSTRACT Due to land transport accidents are the second leading cause of injury after fall. Traffic accidents are the third largest killer in the world under coronary heart disease and tuberculosis Factors that cause traffic accidents are human error or driver factors for instance violating of traffic rules. This study was conducted to determine factor associate with adherence riding a motorcycle on a student of Airlangga University Faculty of Public Health. This was a cross sectional study on 183 students. Subject were selected by simple random sampling and calculation using SPSS 16.0. The independent variables in this study were gender, level of knowledge and the role of agents of socialization. The dependent variable was compliance riding a motorcycle. The results showed that the majority of respondents were 20 years old (42.1%), female (67.2%), the majority of respondents who did not obey (95.6%), respondents with good knowledge (93.4%), role of socialization agents influence toward the respondents (65%). Based on chi-square test with α = 0.05 showed that 3 variables are not connect with the dependent variable, namely: gender (p = 0.718), level of knowledge (p = 1.000) and role of socialization agents (p = 0.453). The conclusion of this study is there is no relationship between gender, knowledge and the role of socialization agents with compliance on a ridding motorcycle. It is recommended to students in order to increase awareness in safe driving to minimize traffic violations.   Keywords: factors, compliance, driver, motorcycle
