Abstract :

ABSTRACT Maternal mortality is still a major problem in Indonesia, with the number of cases continues to increase every year. In East Java, maternal mortality has increased from 582 to 642 in the year 2013, the main causes of maternal mortality is preeclampsia/eclampsia and hemorrhage.The purpose of this study to look at the risk of preeclampsia/ eclampsia and hemorrhage resulting in maternal deaths in East Java. This study is a non-reactive or unobstrusive using cross sectional study. The total sample of 373 cases of maternal death due to preeclampsia/eclampsia and hemorrhage. The independent variable in this study is a risk factor for age and gravida. The results obtained showed that there was no correlation between age and preeclampsia/eclampsia but age is a risk factor for preeclampsia/ eclampsia on maternal mortality (p = 0.369; OR = 1.223). Gravida factors relating to preeclampsia/eclampsia on maternal mortality, and this is a risk factor (p = 0.0001; OR = 2.552). Age and gravida not associated with the incidence of bleeding and is not a risk factor, because age is a factor gravida preventive bleeding in cases of maternal death, and there are other factors that cause bleeding, such as pregnancy spacing, delay in relief, with a history of pregnancy and childbirth complications. There needs to be an optimal control of the mother is known to be the age and gravida at risk by controlling each developmental condition of mother during a pregnancy examination, and should assume all pregnant women at risk of complications despite not being in the category of age and gravida at risk Keywords: maternal mortality, preeclampsia/eclampsia, hemorrhage, risk factors
