Abstract :
This paper discusses the contributions of globalization to the development of democracy, whether globalization supports or creates a crisis of democracy. Globalization encompasses changes in the field of economic and social combined with interconnectedness between regional and global uniqueness, that all together challenge and reform a political community, especially in the form of modern state. The writer argues globalization contributes to the crisis of democracy when it creates wider gap and inequality because of the rising of transnational corporations. Otherwise, development of information technology supports ideas and transnational movement of democracy, in which the process of democracy run. Authoritarian regimes face great challenges and pressures to open the gate of the process of democracy.
