Abstract :
Lombok Treaty is a form of security cooperation that based on the concept of cooperative security. Lombok Treaty was initiated by Indonesia and Australia in 2006 to address security issues faced by both countries. Back in the beginning of its formation in 2006, until this study was conducted in 2015, the problems and disputes in the field of security between Indonesia and Australia are still going on. This article shows three causes of the agreement ineffectiveness: the differences in interests, lack of trust and strategic asymmetry that affect the effectiveness of Lombok Treaty. Those circumstances made cooperative security between Indonesia dan Australia in Lombok Treaty become ineffective to accomplish their objective.
