Opini publik terhadap terorisme di eropa: blind spot dalam kasus serangan norwegia tahun 2011

Abstract :

This paperanalyzesthepublic opinionin Europerelated to terrorism. Paper argues that public opinion on terrorism has always beenlinkedas an actbyextremistsand radicalIslamicgroups. Therefore, it creates blind spots on the development of other extremist groups to launch terorrist attact. Borrowingopinion from Kundnani(2012), paper adds thatpublic opinion is constructed by media response, key political figures’ statements, and security narratives in Europe. In addition, paper analyzes massacre in Norway in 2011. Breivik, the perpetrator, was a right-wing Christian fundamentalist. Thus, supposed that since he wasn’t a Muslim, the incident wasn’t terrorism.
