Making standard procedure as a recommendation to increase utilization of operating room

Abstract :
Doctor Soebandi Regional Hospital in Jember is a teaching hospital. This Hospital has multiple functional service units for service to the community, one of (the service units) is the Central Surgical Installation (CSI). The data in year 2004-2008 show the average utilization of each operating room per day at CSI dr. Soebandi regional hospital in Jember ranged from 0.85 to 1.85, whereas the normative standard of surgery is three surgery per operating room per day. The aim of this research is to formulate recommendations to improve the utilization of operating rooms in the CSI of dr. Soebandi regional hospital in Jember. This is an observational research conducted cross sectional method. Number of samples for this research was total sampling totaling 60 employees of CSI dr. Soebandi regional hospital. The result showed that the realization of operations in the at CSI of dr. Soebandi regional hospital in Jember still have low reached, only 78% of the proposed operation, because there was no standard procedures for arrangement in the CSI. The unavailability to operate the scheduling procedure, caused schedule of the operation based on assumptions, and low realization of the operations because of lack of self-discipline. The recommendations to solve this problem has to make standard procedures that involves scheduling of all medical personnel that play a role in surgery.
