Abstract :
The advance of technology has indisputably provided human beings with enormous easiness and alternatives to disperseand to obtain information. Thank to those who have bright ideas and innovativeness in information technology, now wecan contact each other in any place in the world without moving anywhere and in real time. Communication can bedelivered almost instantly, without any delay, and huge amount of information can be accessed easily by anybodyalmost indiscriminately. We may therefore say that there is now a democratization of information. This blessing of ourown modern civilization has endowed us with opportunities in creating formats by which we can deliver information,including materials for education. In medical education, the use of multimedia has been proved to be extremely helpful.Students, for example, can learn subjects in medical sciences interactively, so that more active involvement in this waycan enhance their comprehension in what they learn in easier and more practical method. Medical information,including the results of medical researches, can now be published online. Easy access to this information, both in full orlimited formats, has brought about acceleration in obtaining fresh findings in medical sciences and technology. Tocontribute to this current trend in medical research publishing, Folia Medica Indonesiana has been published online athttp:// www.fk.unair.ac.id/publikasi/folia. In this site, as a part of the site of Airlangga University School of Medicine,readers can access this medical journal in hypertext. Besides it is available in hard copy, availability in the website maymake the readers easier, for example, to access it from anywhere. Although currently we only provide abstracts forrecent editions, it is not impossible that in the future we will display both current and previous editions in full-text.Enlisting this journal into prominent international medical database has also been included in our plan. We hope thatthese efforts may introduce the scientific works of the authors, who publish their researches in this journal, tointernational forum.
