Abstract :
Nursing care as an integral part of occupational health and safety program, play a role on the incidence of work accidents. In the fact, nursing care cannot be implemented properly as the standards at companies. The aim of this study was to analyze factors which correlate with the role of nurses in handling work accidents. The study used observational analytic study with cross sectional approach. Population were nurses at companies, as many 40 respondents. Independent variables were age, gender, length of work, level of education, and motivation. Dependent variable was nurse’s role. Data collected by using questionnaire. Data then analyzed by using Odds Ratio (OR). Result showed that age ≥30 years old, women, high education level, high motivation, and good knowledge nurses have a good role to prevent work accidents. The dominant factors which correlate with nurse’s role was motivation. It can be concluded that companies should provide intervention to encourage nurses, to play an active role in promoting and preventing work accidents.
