The influence of laun therapy on blood pressure change in patient with isolated systolic hypertension at panti sosial budi agung kupang

Abstract :

Laughter therapy which is given for about 30 to 40 minutes can reduce the high blood pressure and every 5 mmHg reduction in blood pressure for elderly hypertension patients is expected to decrease mortality from about 14 % due to stroke and coronary heart disease due to 7%. This study is aimed to understand the changes of blood pressure in patients with Isolated Systolic Hypertension before and after being given the laugh therapy. This research is classified as Quasy research experiments which uses a one-group pre-test and post- test design without a control group. The samples are 19 persons in the working area of Panti Sosial Budi Agung Kupang. The effectiveness of giving the therapy which is to lower the blood pressure in hypertensive patients are analyzed by using t-test static test.The results showed that there were the changes in blood pressure values in each elderly respondent in the range of changes of systolic blood pressure values between 3-24 mm Hg and diastolic blood pressure changes between 2-24 mmHg. The results of Paired Sample t - Test showed that 0,000 worth less than the standard error ( α ) with a significance of 0,05 or 95%, so the hypothesis of the influence of giving laughter therapy in lowering blood pressure can be accepted. The conclusion of this study is the provision of laughter therapy can lower the blood pressure for patients with isolated systolic hypertension. Researcher then suggest to apply this therapy in Panti Sosial Budi Agung Kupang
