Strengthening kinship system through local wisdom

Abstract :

Local Wisdom of Culture is closely related to the kinship system, especially in rural communities. The study was due to the curiosity of researchers regarding the very close the kinship system among people regardless their identity. and it is very different compare to the people in the city. The purpose of this research is to understand the relation of local wisdom in strengthening the kinship system of the people in rural area especially in Bhayangkari Residence Block VV Kebonagung Village, Sukodono District, Sidoarjo Regency. This research uses qualitative method as well as phenomenological approach. This research also uses observation and interview technique to collect the datas. There are seven people in the interview session who tend to understand more about local wisdom in the research site. The result of the research shows that (a) the people still hold on tightly into local wisdom especially n the rural area as a hereditary tradition from the ancestor, (b) We can see the epitome of the local wisdom through some events such as arisan, tahlilan, and bancakan, (c) the people in the rural area tend to hold on each other tightly even though they don’t actually know each other, and (d) the local wisdom greatly strengthen the kinship system the people especially in the rural area.
