Abstract :
The Islamist groups want Indonesia to be governed based on Islamic system by establishing khilafa-sharia. Some of them also known for their violent actions, it can be form of terrorism or political intolerant and most of them get supports from people of moslem mainstream. As critic to system justification theory , this paper hypothesize a model of psychological needs (which are consist of the need of uncertainty avoidance and the need of threat management), Islamic ideology (such as: Salafi and Daula Islam ideologies) and group identification which affect political attitude (rivalry of the status quo and thechange democracy to khilafa). By using SEM, this study aims to test the model of the followers represents a beginning attempt to describe and evaluate the effects of various dimensions of psychological need and Islamic ideology . Analysis of data from 384 members of three Islamist groups of JA T (Jamaa Anshoru T auhid), MMI (Majelis Mujahidin Indonesia) and HTI (Hizbut T ahrir Indonesia) who participated in the study confirms the fit of the proposed model to the data.
