Abstract :
Among all scholars of social contract theory , Hobbes regarded as the first and the foremost thinker . The purpose of this paper is to reveal the anthropological base of his political thought. Reviving the classical understanding of the central place of his philosophical anthropology to politics, and the conception of humans he developed can help better understanding of political behavior even in the contemporary epoch. This paper argued that his political philosophy departs from a number of premises that are supposed to be self-evident, supplemented by various observations from experience which can be found in “Leviathan” , his famous and the most influential works of political philosophy ever written. Moreover , this paper also considered the relevancy of Hobbes' thought on several issues on psychological politics such as democracy , game theory , and bargaining in the social contract.
