Abstract :

This qualitative research was conducted to figure out whether the psychosocial impact was occurred to the woman who categorized as poor single mother during economic crisis and how they overcome it. This research was taken among poor single parent who lived in Surabaya with ages about 40 years. The data collection methods are observation and interview and have been analyzed with thematic analysis system.The result of this data analysis research indicated that  1) the psychosocial impact during economic crisis experienced by research’s subject, 2) the process of  psychosocial impact influenced by previous poorness condition and the research’s subject position  as a single mother, 3) the forms of psychosocial impact are psychological distress of affective, cognitive, physical and behavior, 4) the significant problems during economic crisis are financial difficulty, losing of couple and double’s roles as single mother, 5) coping strategy that has been taken by single mother in overcoming psychosocial impact during economic crisis is emotional focused coping. The result of each coping strategy was different influenced by personal characteristic such as self acceptance, evaluation of problem, and also strong social support
