Capacity planning as an effort to decrease net death rate in neonatal room

Abstract :

The number of neonatal underweight’s birth is increasing. One of the aim that want to achieved by Indonesian Health Ministry on 2014 is decreasing neonatal death to 24 of 1000 life birth. The aim of this study was forming capacity planning to decrease net death rate and the number of neonatal underweight’s death. The study was observational and crossectional design with qualitative approach. Unit analysis of this study was neonatal unit in RSUD Dr. Wahidin Sudiro Husodo at Mojokerto, East Java. The informant were the decision maker in neonatal room include nurses who knew all information in neonatal room. Datas about patient, BOR, ALOS, TOI, NDR and GDR were got from registration book while datas about the number of employee, employee education and trainings were got from employee and training department. Demand estimated in neonatal room on 2014 is 1.293 and 1.627 patients on 2015. Quantity and quality of health staff, the width of neonatal room, capacity, and medical instruments, except the number of beds weren’t appropriate with Indoneasian Health Ministry standard. Recommendation of this capacity planning may add to the hospital Plan of Action on 2015 to decrease the number of net death rate and neonatal underweight’s death.
