Abstract :
This study evaluated the hematologic changes in African catfish (Clarias gariepinus) was infected by Aeromanas hydrophila. The parameters observed in this study was the White Blood Cells (WBCs) and Differential Leukocyte Count from African catfish infected by Aeromanas hydrophila. The African catfish (body weight of 150 gr and body length 15-20 cm) was infected by Aeromonas hydrophila through different doses, 105 sel/mL, 106 sel/mL, 107 sel/mL, after the African catfish was adapted for 3 days. A week after infection, blood samples were obtained from caudal artery. Leukocyte count and Differential Leukocyte Count analyses were carried out with the collected blood samples. The results showed there was significant increase (P<0.05) in the number of leukocytes when compared with control (P0). There was significant increase (P<0.05 ) in the number of neutrophils and decrease in the number of eusinophils and monocytes. The number of basophils and lymphocytes were not significant decrease (P<0.05).
