Abstract :

The establishment of the three main pillars of ASEAN characterizing each of thefunctional pillars with the concentrated issues, is expected to be the first step informing ASEAN regionalism. In some ways, ASEAN has demonstrated positivedynamics, especially for Indonesia which is one of the ASEAN-former. Starting fromthe completion of Cambodian conflict, strengthening the position of Indonesia in theglobal level, the establishment of ASEAN Free Trade Agreement, ARF, and nowASEAN Community 2015. Despite the success, this vision still have many challengesand obstacles, especially faced by Indonesia. Strategic engagement must be made byIndonesia for the sake of ASEAN solidity, robustness of the position of Indonesia in theinternational level, and improvised the role of Indonesia in the global level.
