Abstract :
Oil is still the main energy source of industries in many countries, but it faces some problem such as fluctuating price and environmental degradation. These conditions push the countries to lessen oil consumption and convert to environmentally friendly energy derived from renewable resources. One of those countries is Brazil which heavily promote renewable energy resources by developing its ethanol sector, and being the second-largest ethanol producer and frst largest exporter in the world. However, as a main exporter in the global ethanol market, Brazil must encounter a variety of obstacles, particularly the climate change issue. This research describes the role of Brazil in environmental regimes and the global renewable energy market in accordance with its status as a leader and pusher country in the international system.
