Abstract :
This paper explained factors behind the declining amount of remittances from Uzbek migrants in Russia in 2014 as well as the strategies taken by Uzbekistan government to manage the issue. Despite the increasing number of migrant workers from Uzbekistan in Russia, the amount of remittances were declining. The result of the research showed that Rusia’s slowdown in economy and the depreciation of Rubel, triggered by sanctions given from the West to Russia, were the causing factors behind this phenomenon. Strategies taken by Uzbekistan government were to determine the inflation rate and controlled money laundering between Uzbekistan and Russia.
