Abstract :

Daphnia sp. supply natural food for freshwater fish, needs appropriate culture technique. It’s need stability water quality in media and good nutrition for Daphnia sp. One of organic matter that cheap, easy to get and has nutrition properties that most equal for growth of Daphnia sp. is rice bran. The aim of this research was to know rice bran concentration that could give the most maximal population of Daphnia sp and stabilize water quality. Experimental design was Completely Random Design with 5 trials and 4 replicates, those were A (25 ppm), B (62,5 ppm) C (125 ppm), D (250 ppm) and control E (50 ppm). Rice bran solution for food Daphnia sp could control water qualities and longer day of culture. pH; 6,4-7,5, dissolved oxygen; 3,1-5,6 mg/l, water temperature ; 24-26,7oC and ammonia; 0,008-0,144 mg/l, where those parameters suitable for Daphnia sp. growth optimally.
