Glaucoma caused blindness with its characteristic in cipto mangunkusumo hospital

Abstract :

The aim of this study is  to assess the incidence of blindness caused by glaucoma and its characteristic. It was a descriptive, retrospective study . all new glaucoma patients who visit Cipto Mangunkusumo hospital were included. Visual acuity, intra ocular pressure (IOP), gonioscopy, funduscopy and visual field were noted. A total of 625 glaucoma patients were analyzed and 325 patients of it were found blind. Fifty of these belonged to women, and mean age was 53 years old. The incidens of unilateral blindness was 67.7% the caused of blindness was secundary glaucoma (26.4%) followed by PACG (20.6%) and POAG (14.5%). Meanwhile, bilateral blindness was found in 32% and secundary glaucoma was the greatest number of caused. Blindness among glaucoma patients are still high
