Abstract :
This research has two purposes (1) presenting a good edition and translation of the Serat Pati Winadi (SPW) text in the easier form, (2) expressing writer’s message or moral teaching in this text. The manuscript of SPW with number PB A 244 used in this research is a collection of the library of Sono Budoyo Museum in Yogyakarta.This research uses Philology method and Literature method. The Philology method consists of manuscript research method and text edition method. The text edition method used in this research is the standard method because we only obtain one text of SPW.The next method used is Literature Method. From the representative text edition, we make pragmatic structural observation. In structural approach is more stressed in theme and writer’s message with figure and characterization that are dominance and have a role for composing the meaning.In pragmatic observation of SPW text has been obtained some Javanese culture values like takdir, darma, karma, nrima, sepi ing pamrih, rame ing gawe. Those culture values can be conducted by human being –especially Javanese- as their way of life, so that they can live safely in the world in peace, in harmony and in balance.
