Abstract :

The aim of this study were to observe the level of prevalency and genus of protozoa diseases to infect fresh water fish, and also to analyse the water quality in ponds. Clarias batracus and Cyprinus carpio were taken from 4 ponds in Sidoarjo Distric. The protozoa were identified by scrapping of skin, gill and digestive tract, and also the water quality was analysed by Winkler method. The result of this study showed that the prevalency rate of protozoa diseases were 98%. Of those prevalency rate were identified eight genus and five classes of protozoa, there were Trichodina sp., Ichthyophthyrius sp., Ichthiobodo sp., Tetrahymena sp., Vorticella sp., Paramecium sp., Chilodonella sp., Myxobolus sp., Cilliata, Amoeba, Myxospora,Flagellata and Coccidia. Meanwhile the pH, temperature, salinity, NH3, Fe, Cu were still found normal, but level of O2, Co2, No2, NH4, H2S and organic matter were higher than normally water quality standard. The conclusion showed that the level of the water quality is low was indicated protozoa diseases were increase.
