Abstract :
The main purpose of this research was to find out the differences of school readiness kindergarten between children from single parent and intact parents. Family structure is a variable X (the independent variable) which consists of two variables: the single parent (X1) and the intact parent (X2). School readiness is a variable Y (dependent variable). School readiness is comprised of five domains of social competence, health and physical well-being, emotional maturity, language and cognitive development, and communication skills and general knowledge. This research was conducted on 36 kindergarten students level B in Surabaya. Of the total subjects were 36 students consisted of 18 students who from single parent and 18 students who from intact parents. The sampling technique used was purposive sampling. Data collection tool by adopting the questionnaire Early Development Instrument (EDI), which consists of 103 items . Data analysis was performed with independent sample t-test technique using SPSS 19.0 for windows. The result of the analysis of research data obtained t value of 6.45 with a mean difference of 2.32. This suggests that there are very significant differences of school readiness in kindergarten student from a single parent and intact parents.
