Abstract :

Abstract: Children’s health problems are generally associated with clean and healthy living behaviors (PHBS). Many activities of interventions can improve knowledge still need to be done, This study was conducted to analyze: the characteristics of the respondent, the level of knowledge before and after the intervention, the differences of knowledge before and after intervention, and the effectiveness of storytelling in health education of PHBS. The design of this study used pre-experimental with pattern of one group pre-test-post-test design. This study began with making of PHBS themed stories with request by the respondents. The story about PHBS is given one-time in Posko Pelangi. Filling out the questionnaire by 25 respondents conducted before and after intervention. Respondents were visitors of park library Posko Pelangi Surabaya only about 7–15 years old. Storytelling is the independent variable, while knowledge of respondents was the dependent variable. The level of knowledge before intervention included in the category of less. The level of knowledge after intervention included in the medium category. The results of t-test showed a significant difference in knowledge (p < 0.05). Storytelling can increase the knowledge of 12.10% during the post-test. The conclusions of this research were the knowledge had significant difference after giving intervention. Storytelling was effective for increasing the knowledge of the respondents about PHBS.
