Abstract :
ABSTRACT
Children in conflict with law (CCL) are a child suspected or accused of having infringed the penal law statute. Children in conflict with the law which have 12 to 18 years old can get arrested as the punishment. Inside the prison, they often find other CCL, custody / other adult prisoners and prison officers. It will certainly affect the formation of self-concept because self-concept is an image of themselves which arise from the interpretation of the world around them while interacting. In the prisons of course very vulnerable child rights violation that will affect their self-concept. For that, we need to know what the self-concept of CCL is after interacting with the other occupants.
The approach used to answer these issues is an interpretive sociology in which humans behave based on the interpretation of the world around him. The theory used the self-concept of CH Cooley and Herbert Mead. The methods used to answer these issues are a qualitative study of children in conflict with the law in the Rutan Medaeng, and ABH had been in detention Medaeng.
The results found in this study were 1) interaction between CCL is varies depending on other assumptions to the other CCL, the interaction between CCL and adults prisoner tend to be as power relations, in which adult prisoners in power, the interaction of ABH against prison officers are also in the form of power relations. 2) The formation of self-concept originated from the CCL. CCL imagine the reactions of others in the crease, and then interpret it so that it appears social reflection about them. However, it is also influenced by how big their primary groups that are outside the crease in providing support to them; and 3) self-concept of CCL has many variations that can be classified based on illegal actions and motives in doing.
