Abstract :

A role of the mass media provide functionality to the user audience. Most important about the growing development of information on daily life, especially among teenagers or students. Characteristic to the diverse needs of adolescents information on making a movement to change from a medium such as the influence of globalization. This confirms that the mass media is very influential and affected by a development and the needs of the desired information. JawaPos print media as one of the mass media in this study, the information needs of adolescents are the factors that influence it is environment, social role, and the person on the theoretical formulation of the problem of this study as follows: (1) how the information needs of middle and high school teens Surabaya on media print Jawa Pos. Theoretical framework in this study is the Context of information need Wilson (1981) which describes the information needs which need person / teens can dikategoikan on physiological needs, affective, and cognitive The population in this study, the middle and high school students in Surabaya in class VII-VII and X-XI. The results of this study and the data in the form of quantitative (table) and qualitative form of probing the respondent. Regarding the conclusions and results obtained in order to answer the formulation of the problem in question, (1) the information needs of adolescents in need of information environment is influenced by the level of education, which adds to the education needs of adolescents outside of school that is on the LBB / Tutoring Institute. . (2) The need for a social role teenager looks at the use of print media by the book of knowledge (history, biography, science) in addition to additional print media. Then JawaPos by teenagers serve as reading material. Additional print media selected as a teenager is supporting social squeeze them to get the information related role. (3) The need for the person seen in adolescents seen in the intensity of their use, during the week students using 3x use of the period of 30 minutes to 1 hour. This is due to the limitations of time as a student and also a reason as search for additional information at this time reading material. Then physiological, afekti, and cognition in adolescents is the relationship between the factors that encourages young person needs to fulfill personal needs such as (entertainment and information at this time)
