Abstract :
Heavy metal pollution is a big threat for the environment. One of them is mercury, and therefore this water treatment by the process adsorption uses the media filtration more economical that is a zeolite and the active charcoal. Election media filtration a zeolite and the active charcoal as the adsorbent because it is have the effectiveness of adsorpsi high (Supardi et. al., 2003). This study attempts to know whether the combination of the zeolite and the active charcoal in a filter water that can be reducing the concentration of mercury (Hg) in waters. Research methodology is experimental to a draft random complete as draft experiment. Those who used is the combination of the zeolite and the active charcoal different, namely A (150 gr of the zeolite ), B (100 gr of the zeolite and 50 gr of the active charcoal), C (50 gr of a zeolite and 100 gr the active charcoal) and D (150 gr the active charcoal) with each treatment consisting of five remedial. Parameter main examined is a decrease in the concentration heavy metal mercury (Hg). Parameter supporters in this research was temperature, pH and dissolved oxygen (DO). Analysis data using test anova and followed by test distance multiple duncan. The research results show that the differences combination a zeolite and the active charcoal markedly dissimilar to a decrease in concentration heavy metal mercury. Decrease in the concentration mercury the highest in the last day is treatment A (150 gr of the zeolite) as much as 95.26 %.
