Abstract :
The presence of heavy metal in waters is very dangerous either directly on the lives of aquatic organismsor indirectly on the health of humans who consume them. One of the aquatic organisms containing heavymetal is Blood Cockles (Anadara antiquata). One of the heavy metal in marine waters is lead (Pb). Thelead (Pb) enters shellfish’s body through filter feeding mechanism, binds to the blood and distributed totissues and organs. Depuration is an effort to avoid the effects of heavy metal lead (Pb) accumulation inshellfish that could potentially transferred to humans who consume them. Ozone therapy is an effectivealternative method of natural detoxification. The purpose of this research is to determine the effect ofdifferent duration of ozone to lead (Pb) content in Blood Cockles (A. antiquata) by depuration. Thisresearch also aimed to determine the amount of lead (Pb) content reduction in Blood Cockles (A.antiquata) after depuration. This research uses completely randomized design with 4 treatments and 5repetations. This research conducted for 72 hours which the treatments are P0 (without ozone), P1 (1hour ozone exposure), P2 (2 hours ozone exposure) and P3 (3 hours ozone exposure). The result of theheavy metal lead (Pb) content test before treatment is 1.93 ppm, while the lead content after treatmentare P0 1.90; P1 1.84; P2 1.58 and P3 1.43 ppm. These amounts then calculated to determine thepercentage reduction of lead (Pb) content which the results are P0 1.16%, P1 4.49%, P2 16.31% and P325.54%.
