Level differences between consumption and infant nutrition status by granting asi asi exclusive and non exclusive

Abstract :

ABSTRACT Breast milk is the best food for babies in their early life. For the best baby food, breast milk has not been fully utilized by the public. There is even a tendency to shift the uses of milk in some communities. The purpose of this research was to analysis the differences in levels of consumption and nutritional status between the baby with exclusive breastfeeding and non-exclusive breastfeeding. This was an analytical observation research and comparative using cross-sectional approach. A sample size of 34 babies aged 6-12 months were divided into two groups: babies with exclusive breastfeeding and non-exclusive breast feeding. The subject were chosen by the simple random sampling. Data was analyzed using the Chi-square, Mann Whitney, and Fisher’s Exact test (α = 0.05). The results showed that there were different levels of knowledge of mothers (p=0.000), social culture (p = 0.000), maternal attitude (p = 0.007), duration of breastfeeding (p = 0.023), frequency of breastfeeding (p = 0.005), infectious diseases (p= 0.039), energy consumption levels (p = 0.001), and nutritional status (p = 0.007). In contrast there were no differences in nutritional counseling on breastfeeding (p = 0.259), and consumption levels protein (p = 1.000). There is need for regular counseling about the benefits, advantages, and the importance of exclusive breastfeeding for babies. Determine the local laws that regulate the corner of lactation in a public places also contributed to increased the use of exclusive breastfeeding.  Keywords: exclusive breastfeeding, nutritional status, level of consumption, baby age 6–12 months
