Abstract :
The duration of school hours on a full day school program allows students to sit longer in the classroom to get lesson. Sitting too long can cause excessive burden and tissue damage in the lumbar spine. This can affect the lumbar and hamstring muscle flexibility. This research is to determine the differences of lumbar flexibility and hamstring muscles shortening in full day and non full day students. This is an observational analytic research where the data are collected by measuring directly the lumbar flexibility and hamstring muscles shortening in full day and non full day students. Data analysis was used chi-square test with lever of significance of 95% (p<0,05). The data from 175 subjects, the most lumbar flexibility category is very less, in full day of school are 28 subjects (46%) and in non full day school are 46 subjects (40%). For the hamstring muscle shortening, the result in full day school are 54 (90%) and non full day schools are 105 (91%) have no right hamstring muscle and 54 subjects (90%) in full day school and 106 subjects (92%) in non full day school have no left hamstring muscle. So, the conclusion, there is no difference in lumbar flexibility and hamstring muscles shortening on the full day school student and non full day.
