Abstract :
The prolonged computer usage intensity potentially generates Computer Vision Syndrome (CVS). They are eyes strain, red eyes, swelling eyes, watery eyes, dry eyes, blurred vision, double vision, headache, insomnia and decrease of visual acuity. The aim of this study was to identify the influences of the prolonged computer usage intensity to the impacts on CVS. This study is non experimental research, using cross sectional studies for research design. The research subjects were the computer operators in internet cafes and computer rentals in the district of Bantul, Yogyakarta. The total of the subjects in this research was 30 computer operators. To get the data, the writer used questionnaire and Optotip Snellen. The data were analysed with pearson correlation. The results were 2(6,67%) having low computer usage intensity, 3(10%) having medium computer usage intensity and 25(83,33%) having high computer usage intensity. Analysed with pearson correlation about the correlation between prolonged computer usage intensity to generate of eyes strain, watery eyes and dry eyes when using computer show significant result (p < 0,05). Analysed with pearson correlation about the correlation between prolonged computer usage intensity to generate of red eyes, swelling eyes, blurred vision, double vision, headache, insomnia and decrease of visual acuity when using computer show no significant result (p > 0,05).
