Abstract :

Dysilipidemia can cause oxidative stress, which is marked with increased ROS and decreased antioxidant capacity in the body. Honey, olive oil and nigella sativa oil contains components that are predicted as natural antioxidants. This study aims to compare the anti-oxidant effectiveness of honey, olive oil and nigella sativa oil in rat models of dyslipidemia. That is by measuring the decrease in plasma MDA levels. After the adaptation for 7 days, 24 rats received diets hyperlipidemic per sonde hull for 7 days to reach the condition of dyslipidemia. Then all samples were divided into 4 groups randomly, and were treated for 10 days. Group KA (control group) were given aquades, group P1 were given 1 ml of honey, group P2 was given 1 ml of olive oil, group P3 were given 1 ml of nigella sativa oil. At the end of treatment examined the levels of lipid profile and plasma MDA levels in all groups tested statistically with a one-way ANOVA and post hoc Tukey. The results showed differences in levels of plasma MDA was significant among all groups with p = 0.000. Post hoc Tukey test results showed that all three herbs are able to lower plasma levels of MDA significantly compared to controls, but with different effectiveness. The Most effective is the olive oil, then followed by honey and nigella sativa oil. Conclusion: honey, olive oil and nigella sativa oil have different antioxidant effectiveness. The Most effective is the olive oil, then followed by honey and nigella sativa oil.
