Abstract :
The aim of this study study to determine the effectiveness of guava leaf extract on Rattus norvegicus enzyme activity, Superokside dismutase (SOD), which is given a stressor treatment exercise pool with a load of 9% of body weight of rats. This research uses laboratory experimental research design with the randomized post-test only control group design. There are four groups (group 1, 2, 3 and 4), group 1 (control) were given training pool only, groups 2, 3 and 4 are given training pool and guava leaf extracts with different doses, group 2 doses of 2.724 mg / 200gr BW rats, groups of 3 doses of 5.407 mg / 200gr BW rats and group 4 dose 10.813 mg / 200gr BW rats. Conducted follow-up for 6 days, erythrocyte SOD activity examination conducted on the last day (sixth). Data showed an increase of erythrocyte SOD activity significantly (p = 0.014 or p <0.05) in groups 2, 3, and 4 (P1 = 27.062 ± 0.667, P2 = 28.905 ± 0.777, and P3 = 28.667 ± 0.817) than group control (K = 26.080 ± 2.387). This means that the guava leaf extract for 6 days showed preventive effects against the decrease in erythrocyte SOD enzyme activity is given stressor treatment exercise pool with a load of 9% of body weight of rats.
