Abstract :
Breakfast is an important contribution for our daily nutrient needs, it donate 25% of the total nutrient intake a day. High School students often do not have breakfast due to many different reasons. Breakfast can provide carbohydrate for increasing blood glucose supply to fulfill neuron’s demand for energy. The aim for this research is to prove that breakfast can increase student’s’ concentration in the morning. This experimental research was using pre-test post-test control group design with random sampling. The subjects of this research were male, student of SMAK St. Stanislaus, 15-19 years old, healthy with normal nutritional status (based on BMI). The subjects were divided into two groups (control and treatment), each group consist of 16 students. The first, measurement of anthropometry and questionnaire, then worked on pre-test, gave breakfast to treatment group and worked on post-test. Data analyzed using SPSS program with fomula normality test, T-test and crosstabulation. There was no significant difference of the anthropometry’s data; mean of age (16.47 ± 7,3), body weight (57.72 ± 7,8 kg), and body height (166.87 ± 5,5 cm). Concentration test results with T-test found that P=0.307, decline in the control group x = -0.19 while in treatment group achieved rise value x = 0.75. That’s not significant because α > 0.05. But, in calculating with crosstabulation, we can see 61.5%of rising value comes from the treatment group.
