Abstract :

Vitamin E has an important role to increase body health and also effective as antioxidant. Vitamin E is a natural antioxidant that protect cells structure especially cells membrane from the free radical destruction. Vitamin E act by look for, react and broke the chain reaction of free radical. Free radical can be lead by high intensity of physical activity , such as 3000 meters marathon that is predominant aerobic sport. Therefore the goal of this study was to analyzed the role of vitamin E to stimulate endogenic antioxidant secretion by increasing blood glutation secretion on the 3000 meters marathon athletes PELATDA PON XVIII Aceh Province. Design of this study was laboratory experimental. The treatment was vitamin E by dose 1 x 400 IU for 14 days. The subject was 9 athletes of 3000 meters marathon. Glutatation level of blood plasm measured by spechtophotometer 420 nm, then statistically was examined by t-test. The result show, there was significant difference (p=0,00) of glutation level of blood plasm before and after treatment. Thus could be concluded that vitamin E have a big role to stimulate endogenic antioxidant secretion by increase blood glutation level on the athletes of 3000 meters marathon PELATDA PON XVIII Aceh Province
