Abstract :

One of the most reliable but also the most questionable statistical technique is the statistical significance test. Its existance is often regarded as one of the basic parameters of research quality, especially in hypothetical testing. On the other hand, its existance also creates an upsurge in critiques and questions for its dependence to the sample size. Controversies about its usage and alternative solutions are discussed.
