Abstract :

Cervical cancer is a gynecological cancer most commonly found in women. Compared to other gynecological malignancies, cervival cancer develops in young women population. Epidemiologu indicates significance, that the incidence of cervical cancer in young age is increasing, in which early stage invasive cervival cancer diagnosis prompts them to undergo radical hysterectomic operation. This case report observes the incidence of early stage cervical cancer that had been metastatic to the ovary and subjected to radical hysterectomy at Dr Soetomo Hospital, Surabaya, in 5 years (2003-2007), and observed the effect of disease stage, histopathological-based cell type, lymph nodes involvement, and parametrial invasion on the incidence of ovarian metastasis. There were 221 cervical cancer patients stage IA-IIB undergoing radical hysterectomy with bisalphyngo-oophorectomy and pelvic lymphadenectomy. The incidence of ovarian metastasis from stage I-II cervical cancer with radical hysterectomy in Dr Soetomo  Hospital for 5 years (2003-2007) was 0%. This does not confirm the latest reports, which was 1.3% in SCC and 6.3% in adenocarcinoma.
