Abstract :

Reproduction is one of essential factor directly affecting profitability in a livestock population growth. The one of the reproductive factors that influenced  to the developing of cattle of smallholder’s farmer are Conception Rate (CR). Artificial insemination is the most effective method to increase the quality of cattle. The one of important thing on artificial insemination is a quality of frozen semen. The quality of frozen semen can viewed by viability and motility post thawing. The study was conducted to know the Conception Rate in Kecamatan Modo Kabupaten Lamongan and viability and motility post thawing of the bull belonging to the Unit Semen Beku Fakultas Kedokteran Hewan Universitas Airlangga. The data is taken primary and secondary data. Primary data retrieval is done by direct observation (observation). As for the secondary data obtained by recording the card Artificial Insemination (AI) owned by farmers, acceptor activity report and pregnancy examination report. The data which was collected from this sample are conception rate, viability and motility post thawing. This research was a case study. The material used cattle used as the acceptors were 200 cattle. Data from CR, viability and motility post thawing was analyzed using Description test to knows the facts and quality of frozen semen. The results of this research on CR (84%), viabilitas (60,6%) and motilitas (47%). This research showed conception rate in facts and the quality of frozen semen. The conclusion of this research for CR, viability and motility post thawing were good because the result were higher than normal.
