Abstract :
Bipolar disorder is a brain disorder characterized by altered mood, thought, energy and behavior. This disorder is characterized by episodes of mania, hypomania, mixed and major depression. Mania is a behavioral syndrome that manifested of euphoric mood or irritability, with several other signs, such as flight of idea and increase self confidence. Diagnosis of bipolar disorder is difficult because of psychotic symptoms that overlap with other psychiatric disorders, schizophrenia and Schizoaffective. It caused bipolar disorder undiagnosed and untreated well. The goal of treatment is remission of symptoms, returned in psychosocial functioning perfectly, and prevention against recurrent relapses. In determining the algorithm of bipolar disorder should be considered efficacy, tolerability, efficacy and safety of medications for patient. However, bipolar disorder treatment effective if done comprehensively. Comprehensive Therapy include pharmacotherapy and psychotherapy.
