Abstract :
Human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) is a virus that spreads through the blood, transmission through sexual intercourse, sharing needles in intravenous drug use, and transmission from mother to child, through birth or breastfeeding. HIV, the virus that causes AIDS, "acquired immunodeficiency syndrome," has become a serious challenge in the development of health. People with severe mental illness (schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, and recurrent major depression) have a high risk of HIV infection through the practice of risky sexual behavior, substance abuse, and involvement in social networking communities with high HIV prevalence. Diagnosis of schizophrenia has poor predictive of HIV risk knowledge and practice safe sex. Psychopathology of schizophrenia reduces the ability of patients to determine the risk of HIV, modify behavior, and participate in treatment. Clinicians who work dealing with chronic mental patients are in a unique position to promote healthy behaviors, reduce the transmission of HIV, encourage early detection and treatment, and improve care.
