Therefore it is of paramount importance to identify the family function as a baseline for improving adaptive behavior in children with autism. In this study correlational research method was used. The sample of this research was 18 childrens with autism and parents. The instrument of this research was modified questionnaire based on family fuction and Vineland Adaptive Behavior Scale. Data collected analysis used spearman rank test with significance value p ≤ 0,05. Most of the parents (58,82%) have a good family fuction to suit their children’s needs and most of children (58,82%) with autism have adequate of adaptive behavior. There is significant relationship (p = 0,038) between family functions and adaptive behavior with correlation coefficient (r = 0,507). According to this research we can conclude that family functions to suit their children’s needs which are asih, asuh, and asah simultaneosly affected children’s adaptive behavior.
