The relationship between child abuse behavior and temper tantrum level

Abstract :

Introduction. Temper Tantrum is a common pediatric problem that is significant psychosocial problems for children and their parents. Uncontrolled Temper Tantrum was a distraction on preschool or child older than 3 years. The aim of this study is to analyse correlation between knowledge of child abuse and temper tantrum level, attitude of child abuse and temper tantrum level, and behavior of child abuse and temper tantrum level. Method. Design of this research was cross sectional study. This research used purposive sampling with total sample 24 respondents and the population in this study is 24 respondets. Independent variable was knowledge of child abuse, attitude of child abuse, and behavior of child abuse. The dependent was temper tantrum level. The data were collected using knowledge questionnaire, attitude questionnaire, and behavior questionnaire for child abuse behavior and temper tantrum questionnaire for temper tantrum level. Analyzed by Spearman’s rho with significance level p < 0.05. Result. There was correlation between the knowledge of child abuse and temper tantrum level (p=0,001; r=0,645), the attitude of child abuse and temper Tantrum level (p=0,000 ; r=0,676), and the behavior of child abuse and temper Tantrum level (p=0,001; r=0,645). Discussion and conclusion. It can be concluded, child abuse behavior will cause severity of temper tantrum level in children. Further study is recommended on providing knowledge to teachers and parents about child abuse to overcome temper tantrum in preschool children and use observasion to identify the development of temper tantrum level in preschool children.
